FAQs

A: Of course, this is how Gypsea Retreats started! We all began surfing in our 20s and our vision is to support you in and out of the water. We want to show you how to overcome fears, learn new skills, and experience what it is like to surf surrounded by encouraging women!
A: 110% YES, we recommend this! Getting out of your comfort zone, and doing something completely for yourself is where you meet your own power. We often have participants come on their own, some come with a friend, mum or sibling to share the experience. We believe the most expansion comes from choosing what you desire for yourself!
Yes of course, we understand everyone is in different circumstances and we offer our experience to suit your financial situation. We require a minimum deposit of $499 to secure your spot on our retreat. After the deposit is paid, we organise a payment plan option together that aligns with you.
This retreat will support you with exactly what you need. Join us to disconnect from the busy world and have time to reconnect to yourself with the guidance, love & empowerment to realign yourself and find your inspiration for life.
Yes, surfing is only one component of Gypsea Retreats and we offer so much more than surfing. Our workshops and daily yoga will support you to connect deeper to yourself and your body to improve your surfing. In the past, women who were surfers chose to surf the same break or different breaks when we head out for a surf lesson and enjoy a few hours in the ocean. We also offer progressive surf retreats where we offer beginner and intermediate surf lessons to tailor to your level.
Yes of course you can, however the surf school who takes the surf lessons provides the wetsuits, surfboards & other equipment so you wont need to bring anything. If you have a certain board you’d like to practise more on, you’re welcome to bring it to the retreat.
Yes, surfing is definitely optional. This is your retreat, you can create however you want to experience it! The surf lessons run by the surf school goes for 1.5 – 2 hours of the day. You can either choose to participate in the surfing or have this time as free time (swim, snorkel, read, journal, relax, bond with other women on the retreat etc).
All ages are welcome, we have had ages from 16 – 50. It’s never too late to start learning a new hobby!
We welcome all levels of fitness to our retreat, you dont already have to be fit and strong to start taking up a new hobby. Our surf lessons taken by the surf school is around 1.5 – 2 hrs a day. You can decide to experience the full lesson or rest whenever you feel complete. It does feel like a workout if you have had a sedentary lifestyle but it is so beneficial for your cardiovascular system! To prevent possible injuries, we recommend starting to move your body and open the hips/strengthen the core and open the shoulders before attending our retreat.
